Fiddlers Grove Blacksmiths Association
Fiddlers Grove Blacksmiths Association (FGBA) was established in the first quarter of 1992. Fiddlers Grove Pioneer Village is home to FGBA. FGBA’s first home was Mr. Luther’s Blacksmith Shop in Fiddlers Grove. The shop had one forge. As we grew, we added two more forges. It wasn’t long until FGBA was too big for the small shop.
In 1999, the blacksmiths of FGBA turned a 30×60 shed into the present day FGBA Blacksmith Shop. We started with two forges moved from Mr. Luther’s shop. We quickly added two more forges and the tools to go with them. Green coal classes were added on Tuesday nights.
By the end of November 2003, the number of coal forges totaled eight with one gas forge. FGBA has a green coal (beginners) class that teaches the fundamentals of blacksmithing. FGBA has a large membership of over seventy members. The membership has both male and female members.
